A contract in excess of

£lOO,OOO for the construction of the first stage of a cable manufacturing factory to be built at New Plymouth was sign-

ed in Wellington today. The factory, which will be one of the most modern in the world, is owned by the recently formed Canada and New Zealand Associated Cable Company, Ltd. The company has been formed jointly by the Wel-lington-based Tolley Holdings, Ltd., and the Canada Wire and Cable Company. Representatives of the company signed the contract w’tth Riddick Brothers and Still, Ltd., of New Plymouth. The new plant will turn out power distribution cable and specialise in the manufacture of underground cables-
