TROTTING Robin Dundee Should Atone Tonight

A handicap of 42 yards should not be enough to stop Robin Dundee avenging her Wellington Cup defeat when she contests the Jubilee Handicap at Hutt Park Raceway tonight. New Zealand’s champion pacing mare looked more than a little unlucky not to win on Saturday and with just average fortune in the running, should be much too good for most of her rivals.

If the pace is strong, which seems unlikely, Robin Dundee might have to work hard for a win. However, she looks so well at present that a winning run would be well within her reach. If she does win. she is assured of a rousing reception. One of the hardest for Robin Dundee to beat could be Junior Royal, a most unlucky fifth in the Wellington Cup. He lost ground at the start on Saturday, but afterwards received a splendid run until the straight entrance. He was behind Robin Dundee and was never in the clear from then. Junior Royal, too, looks in great heart at present. He is a fine stayer and if he can be reserved until late in the race for a final sprint, he could gain an overdue win. Great Adios paced a sound race for fourth in Saturday’s Wellington Cup. He was in the open for most of the way and was barely a length from Hie winner at the finish. Great Adios usually thrives on racing and should be close to his best. He will at least be a sound place prospect. Cloudy Bay has broken badly in his last two races, the first time another runner being responsible. On Saturday he refused to settle down and lost all chance. If he moves away smoothly he could be a danger as a peak run from him would be better than could be produced by many in the race. Gipsy' Hanover and Full Sovereign, two of the principals in the finish to the Wellington Cup. and Waitaki Hanover appeal most of the others.

Second Leg

Epona, second to Vauxhall Prince on Saturday, should gain an overdue win in the McDonald Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double. Epona has drawn No. 7 at the barrier and should receive a more favourable run than she

did after drawing No. 1 on Saturday. She will again be bracketed with Stanorma, a solid finisher for fifth on Saturday. Stanorma will appreciate the extra two furlongs in this race. Scottish Advance won so well on Saturday in good time that she must be given a peat chance once more. She is racing most generously at present and should be the hardest for Epona to beat. Star Globe and Smart Lass, third and fourth on Saturday, have both drawn the second line, but that might not stop them racing prominently again. Along with Wee Herb and Top Copy they appeal most of the remainder. There will be an on-course double run on the Borough and Foster Handicaps, Sure Bill and Abbey Frost, both of which finished second in their races on Saturday, *orming a likely combination. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be fast Acceptances:— 7 p.m.— BOROUGH HANDICAP, £410; trotters; 2:18 class; Um.—Chief Assault (S), Don’t (1), Mystique (3) Regal Way (2).
