Last Flights From Ice

The last aircraft to fly from the Antarctic this season—three United States Navy Her cules—landed at Christchurch Airport on Sunday. The last to arrive touched down about 5 pjn. The last transport of any kind to leave McMurdo Sound before winter sets in will be the U.S.N.S. Wyandot, which is due to sail from the Antarctic on March 2. Behind her the Wyandot will leave the winter party, about 270 men at five different stations. They will have no physical contact with the outside world until the first Hercules of the new season lands at McMurdo Sound about October 1.
