Good Quality Photographs
A camera which was bought at the Sale and Exchange Mart, The Strand, London, 47 years ago, is still being used regularly and producing photographs of as good a quality as those taken by a modem camera.
Mr W. Selway. of Moncks Bay, bought the camera ,'becondhand in 1919 for about 30s. He has used it regularly since. The bellows were replaced in 1951, but nothing else has been done to it. The camera takes a 127 film, end colour prints taken from a film exposed last week give a perfectly dear picture of C hristchurch and the Cashmere hills as seen from the top of the Government Life Building. The camera was made in the United States by Eastman Kodak. It has a ball-bearing shutter with speeds of l/25sec end l/50sec and “Time.” The aperture scale is marked from ‘•portrait” to “cloud.” A lid on the back can be lifted to enable the user to write on the paper backing of the film. A small steel pencil is provided for this.
Collapsed, the camera measures sin by 3in by lin.
