Kindergarten News
A sites and development sub-committee has been formed by the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association, says a report from the delegates’ council meeting. The new sub-committee will find suitable rites for kindergartens, foster local interest in the work and act in a supervisory capacity until the building sub-committee takes over a project. The Wainoni-Aranui kindergarten would be known in future as the Portsmouth street Free Kindergarten and enrolled its first pupils yesterday. The kindergarten’s committee was congratulated on its work.
A meeting of the regional area group of free kindergartens, within the district of the University of Canterbury, would be held at Kindergarten College tomorrow, the report said.
The resignation of Mrs L. McCormick, a council member, was received with regret.
Queen’s Guides.—Two girls were presented with Queen’s Guide awards by the new Chief Commissioner (Mrs W. Turnbull) at a ceremony at Latimer square yesterday. They were Pauline Phillips and Susan Darcli. Later in the afternoon Mrs Turnbull presented Miss Alice Fisher with a training torch.
