Fewer Births Last Month
There were fewer births in Christchurch last month than in February last year, but deaths and registry marriages increased, according to the registrar of births, deaths and marriages (Mr J. E. Millar). Last month 399 births were registered, compared with 417 in February last year. There were 192 deaths (174 last year), and 44 registry marriages (40). There were 250 marriage notices issued. So far this year there have been 909 births, 376 deaths. • 5 registry marriages, and 460 notices of marriage issued. The corresponding figures for ; last year are 898, 320, 71 and 1 449.
