FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression in the Tasman Sea is moving south-eastwards on to the South Island and its associated frontal system is moving on to the country from the west. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; cloudy and mild, with periods of light rain or drizzle. Outlook: Mainly fine; some rain. Kaikoura coast.—Light to moderate variable winds; weather mainly fine and warm, but a few showers likely about the ranges. Outlook: Mainly fine. Central Marlborough, the Sounds and Nelson. —Light to moderate northerly winds; cloudy, warm and humid with periods of light rain. Outlook: Fine.
