FINE FOR SLOW DRIVING

Af ANY motorists are becoming increasingly concerned over drivers who dawdle along hugging the centre line and delay lines of following traffic.

The danger comes when the drivers following become impatient and take unnecessary risks to overtake. There is no objection to drivers travelling at slower speeds provided they keep as far as practicable to the left and allow faster traffic room to pass. In some areas, passing bays are provided where the slower driver may pull off the roadway. Where these bays are not available there are usually short stretches of

roadway where it is possible for the slower driver to pull right over with safety to let other motorists pass.

The person who dawdles, hugging the centre line, can be charged with inconsiderate driving. The penalty for inconsiderate driving is a fine not exceeding £5O. At the discretion of the court the offender is liable to disqualification or endorsement of his drivers licence.
