RACING PROBE

47 Written Submissions

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Forty-seven individuals and organisations have made written submissions to the racing committee of inquiry which held its preliminary meeting in Wellington yesterday, to determine procedure and methods of receiving and hearing submissions. When the committee is sitting to hear submissions in support of written submissions, proceedings will be open to the newspapers. Where there is no personal support of written submissions, copies of those submissions may be released to newspapers. The committee will sit in Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington. Christchurch and Dunedin, although it may also visit other centres if it considers it necessary. The next meeting will be held in Wellington in January.

When the committee is sitting in public it will limit cross-examination of any witness making submissions to questions the committee will permit to be put through the chairman.
