HEARING IN FEBRUARY

Fendalton Rd. Objections Objections to the proposed widening of Fendalton road between the railway crossing and Clyde road, and to plans to rezone the Fendalton shopping area, will be heard by the Waimairi County Council on February 9. The council decided this last evening after it had been told that as objections had been received, and that others were invited up to one month before the hearing. The council decided to hear objections on February 8 to plans to widen Fendalton road between the railway and its Harper avenue junction, to which nine objections have so far been received.

On both days, the objections will be neard by a town-planning sub-committee, and hearings will start at 9.30 a.m.

“They will be fairly long days,” said Cr. R. C. Neville. An application from W. J. Turner, Ltd., to establish a shopping centre at the Fen dalton road-Memorial avenueClyde road intersection was deferred until the council reaches a firm decision on the zoning of the existing shops.

The committee also reported that the Rev. L. F. Allison had objected to the possible commercial development of the Law block on Memorial avenue near the Fendalton shops. Mr Allison, whose home adjoins the block, will be told that he could raise his objection if the situation arose.
