PIPING OF DRAINS
Proposal At Waimairi
The piping of 238 chains of open drain and flood relief work in another 72 chains was provided for in its proposed £450.000 stormwater loan .the Christchurch Drainage Board told the Waimain County Council last night The board said that it was impossible to give a starting date, as the loan had not been sanctioned, but there were 40 contracts in the estimates and 18 to be let in addition- to those provided for in the loan. Drains to be piped were: Avonhead road, from Beatrice place to Pyne, Gould Guiness Ltd., drain; Barnes road, from railway to Main
North road; Claridge’s road from Highstead road to Styx drain; Donald's drain from Harewood road to Sawyer’s Arms road; Highstead drain all Higham’s drain in Highstead road; Reee's drain from Greer’s to Highstead roads; Reece's branch drain Sturrocks road drain from railway to Main North road 10 chains of Withell’s road dram.
