Was With Scott In Antarctic

(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, November 25. Professor Frank Debenham, a survivor of Scott’s last expedition. has died in Cambridge. He was aged 81. Professor Debenham, born in Australia, was the founder of the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge. He was its director from 1925 to 1946.

He was professor of geography at Cambridge University from 1930 to 1949. He was a geologist with Scott’s ill-fated expedition to the Antarctic from 1910 to 1913, in which Scott and four companions died. Professor Debenham was responsible for mapping much of the area west of McMurdo Sound.
