LAND DEAL REPORTED

Properties In North, South (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 9. The Land Settlement Board is reported to be negotiating two huge land sales involving 160,000 acres. The properties are the 40,000-acre Te Paki Station, north of the North Island, and Mr W. E. Hazlett’s 120,000-acre property in Southland. The board refused to discuss details of the purchases today, but the deputy-chairman, Mr R. G. McLaughlin, said the Minister of Lands (Mr Gerard) would make a statement when negotiations had been completed. Mr McLaughlin said the Te Paki station was of ecological and scientific significance and would provide land for farm settlement.
