AUSTRALIA. 2141 THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES invite# applications for POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS IN MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES Successful applicant# will be engaged in research on the strength and creep properties of some commercial available cast-irons, or alternatively on the behaviour of prestressed cast-iron girders under load. This research project will also include an analyses of girder cross-sections in order to find the most suitable and economic designs. This project will be under the direction of Professor F. S. Shaw, Head of the Department of Structural Engineering, from whom further information may be obtained. One scholarship is available immediately and another in 1966. Applicants should be engineering graduates, preferably with honours, or hold equivalent qualifications. It is expected that applicants will register for a higher degree. The scholarships are tenable in the first instance for one year but may be renewed for a second year. They have a value of 1A1450 per annum (less University fees), and where the holder is registered for a higher degree they may be exempt from income tax.
