This position is recognised by the Royal Autralasian College of Surgeons as a training post for higher qualification. Any Registrar serving for 2 years in this position will qualify for and be eligible to apply for the N.Z. Foundation for the Blind Ophthalmic Bursary. This Bursary provides for the payment of £BOO (or such sum as may be determined by the Board in respect of each successive bursary) towards an approved course of post-graduate study, and is payable in addition to any other appointments or awards concurrently held. The salary scale in respect of the above position is in accordance with the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers’) Regulations, 1964, viz— Junior Registrar: £1655 —1760 — 1815 per annum.
