Long Service
Mr W. F. E. Bennetts, of the Tuapeka County Council, who is attending the South Island Local Bodies’ Association’s conference in Hokitika, claims a record for family local body service. He has been a councillor since 1949 and chairman for some time, and his father, the late Mr J. Bennetts, served before him. Between them they have given, 66 years. That may be equal-' led or bettered: but Mr Ben-! netts thinks it may be a rec-| ord that both he and his i father have always been elec-! ted unopposed. 1
