Building Permits
Sir, —A major frontal restoration of a building between Cashel street and Hereford street is being carried out in Colombo street on the old boundary line. I understood the council was insisting on the new boundary seven feet back. Was a permit issued for the work on the old boundary, or the new and then amended? Is a councillor a senior partner in the firm which owns the building? -Has the Colombo street plan been abandoned? —Yours, etc., MATAGAURI SPIKE.
October 27, 1965. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) says: “As in another- recent case, the council has permitted the restoration of the front of this building under a bond from the owner undertaking to shift his frontage back the seven feet when called upon to do so by the City Council and at no cost to the City Council.”]
