COMMERCIAL Shares React To Profit News On Easier Market

Shares reacted to announcements of their companies’ profits yesterday on an easier New Zealand market. South British added Is to 31s and Amalgamated Batteries 2s 6d to 35s on news of better trading results while Whitcombe and Tombs lost 9d to 25s after announcing a lower profit for its latest year.

National Insurance continued its climb, adding another 3d to 245, while Fletcher contributing shares rose Is to 14s. Burns Philp, in a first ex dividend sale, increased 2s 7d to 65s 4d in the overseas section.

Rights were marked back. McKendrick lost 2d to Id, North Auckland Farmers 6d to 6d, Claude Neon 6d to 15s 6d, J. Bums Id to Is 4d, Broken Hill Proprietary Is Id to 24s 2d and Woolworths 2d to 5s 4d.
