ECONOMIC SURVEY

Government’s Help | The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce received letters i last evening from the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) commending it and the other sponsoring bodies on their action in employing an overseas firm of consultants to undertake an economic survey of Canterbury. They offered support from both the Department Industries and Commerce and the Department of Statistics. A member asked Mr J. Roysmith if South Canterbury' was to be included in the j survey. He replied that somej of the statistics were provincial and some local in character. The survey would deal I first with Christchurch and, its environs, but some of the] information would include the whole of Canterbury.
