Road Grader On Fire
A road grader belonging to the Waimairi County Council was severely damaged by fire yesterday afternoon. The grader was in Turners road, near Marshland road, when a short-circuit from the battery started the fire. County firemen on a water tender and firemen from the St. Albans and Headquarters station were called out. A hose from the water tender and two hose reels on the fire engines were used to put out the fire. The fuel in the grader caught fire, as did its tyres. The driver was not injured.
