Course Change Douses Fire

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 3. The captain of the 6900-ton British ship Newfoundland with a blazing cargo of vegetable oil, changed course today to let 40ft Atlantic waves swill over her hot deck as she struggled towards the Irish coast. His manoeuvre succeeded and he was able to call off his request for other ships to stand by to assist. A Royal Air Force Shackleton circled overhead to keep an eye on her progress.
