FOG CAUSES COLLISIONS

Chain Reaction Effect j (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) I LOS ANGELES. Nov. 1. About 150 cars were involved in chain reaction collisions on Los Angeles freeways yesterday during a heavy fog. Thirty of the cars were total losses and 28 people were injured, but only one seriously, the Californian highway patrol said later. It was estimated that damage would rim as high as 100,000 dollars. About one hundred cars were involved in collisions on the Santa Anna freeway and another 50 on the harbour freeway. The highway patrol report said the accidents began when drivers entering the fog suddenly applied their brakes and cars behind crashed into the slowing vehicles.
