TRACK TOO DANGEROUS
Trials Called Off At Paeroa “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. Barrier trials organised by the Waikato Owners* and Trainers’ Association at Paeroa yesterday afternoon were cancelled after the running of two heats. The jockeys engaged then decided that the track was dangerous. The trials were arranged to test the resurfaced Paeroa track. Unfortunately there were heavy showers in the morning and the course, carrying long grass on a hard surface, became very greasy In similar circumstances the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's meeting last December, to mark the opening of the new track, had to be abandoned when the apprentice, S. J. Ganley, was killed in a race fall. If the conditions are more favourable, the trials set down for yesterday will be concluded next Monday. The Ohinemuri dub hopes to be able to race on the track on December 18. During course reconstruction the club has held meetings mainly at Pukekohe.
