These laboratories were previously the diagnostic laboratories of the Departments of Pathology and Microbiology in the University of Otago. Applicants must have passed the Univers'ity Entrance Examination. Passes in science subjects are an advantage and persons who are awaiting the results of accrediting or sitting of these examinations should also apply. Applicants should be prepared to follow the fiveyear course required to obtain the Certificate of Proficiency in Hospital Laboratory Practice of the Health Department. The successful candidates will be required to carry out routine diagnostic laboratory work .and will be given a systematic course of instruction to prepare them for the Certificate of Proficiency Examination.
