BUILT IN A DAY

Housing Plan In S. Africa

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter) PRETORIA A three-bedroomed factorybuilt timber and asbestos house exhibited in Pretoria is built in five parts at a cost of £2400 and erected in a day. The general manager of the firm which erected the house Mr F. C. Gericke, said that the time would come when all houses would be factory built. This would not only reduce the cost of housing but cut the time taken. “When we come into production later this year we shall build two houses a day at our factory,” he said. “It will take only a day to erect a house once the concrete foundation has been laid—and this time includes the connexion of electrical wiring, sewerage and plumbing.”
