Dr. Grant To Continue (N.Z. Press 'Association) WELLINGTON. Dr. A. McGregor Grant, the president of the Auckland Racing Club and vice-presi-dent of the New Zealand Racing Conference, has been reappointed a conference representative on the Totalisator Agency Board. This was announced by the conference after yesterday’s meeting of the executive committee. Other decisions released after the meeting were:—The appointment of a stipendiary steward to replace Mr W. Freeman, of Palmerston North, has been deferred until January. The inquiry which was to have been held on October 2 by the Hawke’s Bay district committee into a positive returned by Triple Bel will now be conducted on November 2.
The Waikouaiti Racing Club, which holds its centennial meeting on New Year’s Day, was refused permission to include a ninth race, which would be a trotting event, on its programme. Before reaching its decision the committee received protests from the Dimedin Thoroughbred Owners’, Trainers’ and Breeders’ Association, supported by the Jockeys’ Association, against the inclusion of the trotting race on the galloping programme on the grounds that it would Spread discontent among owners, trainers and jockeys.
