HALSWELL SEWAGE
Connexion To City The discharge of Halswell sewage into the board’s system, instead of having a treatment works, was approved by the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening on proposals submitted by the Halswell County Council. The council would provide local reticulation, a rising main, and other works necessary to provide an outfall to the system, it was agreed. When the scheme had been completed to the board’s satisfaction and connected to the system, the board’s district would be extended to Include the proposed county sewerage rating area. The board would then take over responsibility for the loan and maintenance and operation of the scheme.
In agreeing to this, the board said the council should be told that there would be a delay of about 12 months before any proposed legislation could become operative.
