SEWER ABOVE GROUND

Board Member

Objects

At a time when other services were going underground, it was deplorable that the board should think of having a sewer line above ground, said Mr T. D. Flint at a meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening. He was referring to a proposed sanitary sewer reticulation of six residential lots of a proposed subdivision in Richmond Hill road. Mr P. J. McWilliam. the chief engineer, said the proposal was to have about 40ft of sewer above ground to cross a gully, and it would be about 4ft above ground. Mr Flint asked that a decision be deferred for one month so that residents could be advised of the proposal and g’ven an opportunity to object. The board agreed.
