VISIT BY 11 JAPANESE
Three Days In
Christchurch
Eleven young Japanese on a good will mission will arrive in Christchurch this evening. During the three days they are in the city the six women and five men will visit educational establishments and meet the city's youth.
Soon after they arrive in Christchurch the Japanese will go to the Wamiai scout den in Clyde road, where venturer scouts will demonstrate aspects of scout training and activities.
Tomorrow morning the Japanese will meet the Mayor (Mr G. Manning), and at 10.30 a.m. they will visit the Wairakei Road Primary School, where pupil in a Standard 3 class will present a Japanese play for the visitors.
The members of the mission will lunch with the Honorary Consul for Japan in Christchurch (Mr J. S. Pallet) and Mrs Pallot. Tomorrow evening the Christchurch branch of the Japan Society will entertain the visitors al a cabaret.
The party will visit Lincoln College on Friday morning and the Kingslea Girls’ Training School in Shirley on Friday afternoon. In • ? evening it will attend a conversazione with members of the Canterbury branch of the Youth Hostels’ Association. The visitors will be taken to the Y.M.C.A. open camp at Wainui late on Saturday morning. In the evening they will move out of their city hotel and be billeted for the night with members of the Christchurch branch of the Japan Society. At noon on Sunday the mission will leave by air for Wel- ' lington.
