CHOIR’S BOSTON VISIT
The Minister in Charge of Tourism (Mr Eyre), in a letter dated September 30, says the publicity opportunities afforded by the visit of the Christchurch Harmonic Society’s choir to Boston for the Handel and Haydn Society’s 150th anniversary celebrations last Sunday, were certainly appreciated.
Mr Eyre says he gave full information to New Zealand's senior travel commissioner in the United States and asked him to indicate whether it would be passible to mount some sort of display in Boston. The Canterbury Sales and Marketing Executives Club wrote to the Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall) on July 13 asking whether the choir, the largest cultural group from New Zealand to visit the northern hemisphere, could be used as a focal point in New Zealand promotion. The choir will return to Christchurch on Sunday.
