FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex low pressure system covering the eastern Tasman sea is moving on to New Zealand. Forecast:

Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury.—Moderate winds, mainly northerlies; cloudy skies, areas of fog and some scattered rain; moderate to mild temperatures.

Marlborough, except Kaikoura Coast.—Northwesterlies becoming fresh to strong; some rain; mild.

Nelson. —Fresh to strong northerlies and rain; becoming partly cloudy, apart from showers in ranges, with westerlies; mild.

Buller and Westland.—North-easterlies fresh at first, decreasing; rain at first, clearing to occasional showers: mild.

Outlook: cloudy skies, with showers.
