SHEARING TRAINING

Pilot Scheme Planned

A pilot shearing scheme will be introduced soon into sheds in the Hororata and Oxford districts of North Canterbury. Delegates to the meat and wool section of the North Canterbury Federated Farmers agreed yesterday that shearing instructors visit the sheds to inspect the work of learner-shearers.

The purpose of this was to correct faults in the style of the shearers who had been trained at Lincoln College. The branch secretary (Mr S. S. Obery) said that the pilot scheme in the two areas would be the first to be tried out.

Instructors supplied by the Wool Board would visit the sheds under the sponsorship of the Federated Farmers and the Young Farmers dubs.
