CONFIDENCE IN COACH

I “Criticism | Deplored” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 14. The president of the New Zealand Men's Basketball As sociation, Mr C. L. S. Cross, tonight described recent criticism of the national coach, Mr C. E. Agnew', as “deplorable and without logical foundation." Mr Cross issued a prepared reply to a call at the weekend by the president of the Auckland association, Mr At. Wilson, for Mr Agnew’s resignation. Mr Wilson said he made the demand because only two Aucklanders were included in the 20-man New Zealand training squad, although Auckland had won the national title. In his statement after a meet ing of the N.Z.M B.A. tonight. Mr Cross said: “Following a meeting of our management committee this as sociation expresses complete confidence in the national selector, Mr Agnew, and pledges to support him to the fullest extent."
