Rebuilding Church

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Sept. 13,

Work has begun to strengthen the stone walls of St. John’s Church, East Tamaki, which was burned down and desecrated early in June. The fire is believed to have been started by persons practising black magic in the church at night. St. Paul’s Church, in Flat Bush, was damaged by fire in similar circumstances last week.

The walls, the only part of St. John’s left standing, are being restored to their original condition. When finished the church will be almost a replica of the old one.
