Soccer Plan Shelved
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept 13
The proposal by several Auckland soccer clubs that a semi-professional soccer federation be introduced next year has been shelved indefinitely. This was decided at a meeting of the interested clubs, Lynndale, Ponsonby, North Shore and three others tonight. The clubs after the meeting said that the action had been taken in view of the insistence by the Auckland Football Association control board that the semi-professional football must be kept within the confines of the present championship set-up. The “lack of interest from clubs in general” had also been a deciding factor. The clubs, however, affirmed their faith in the idea and will proceed with semi-professionalism in their own elubs.
