FIREMEN’S BALLOT

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 1. The Auckland and North Shore Firemen’s Union has postponed its ballot on whether to refuse all routine duty because of the Arbitration Court's rejection of its claim for a 40-hour week. The union secretary, Mr A. W. Monk, said a member of the court, Mr A. B. Grant, would address firemen on Thursday night. “We felt it should be postponed because Mr Grant’s talk could affect the result of the ballot,” said Mr Monk. The poll was originally to bn held this week.
