GUARDED TUNNEL
De Gaulle’s Drive (N.Z. P. A.-Reuter—Copyright I PARIS, July 15. Massive security ar* rangements have been made to protect Preaident de Gaulle against any attempt on his life when he attends the official opening of the road tunnel under Mont Blanc tomorrow. Special French and Italian police guards will be posted every 100 yards along the seven-mile tunnel. Before President de Gaulle and President Giuseppe Saragat, of Italy, make the inaugural drive from Hamonix on the French side to Courmayeur in Italy, police will drive through the tunnel at 15-ininute intervals. Two thousand riot police have been drafted to Chamonix, and the town will be finely combed for persons who might be security risks. On the Italian side, security checks have been tightened on tourists, journalists and workmen near the tunnel. All must have special passes. Police are beating bushes and searching woods up to a mile and a half from the road.
Subandrio In Ghana. —The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Dr. Subandrio, arrived in Accra last night from Congo (Brazzaville) at the head of a 25-man good-will mission on a three-day visit to Ghana Accra. July 15.
