21% Crash On Saturday (Parliamentary Reporter' WELLINGTON, July 14. The period between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. is the worst hour of the week for road accidents, says the annual report of the Transport Department. A total of r 7l accidents occurred between the hours of 11 p.m. on Saturday and and 3 a.m. on Sunday last year. “When it is remembered traffic volumes dui-ing these hours are minimal, the number of accidents is out of all proportion to what might be expected. Many of these accidents involved no other vehicles or pedestrians,” the report says. The percentage of all accidents during the year which occurred on a Saturday was 21.7. A total of 16.9 per cent took place on a Friday and 15.5 per cent on a Sunday. The worst hour for accidents on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays was between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. It was between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both Fridays and Saturdays.
