LEASING IN BUSINESS

Institute Panel Discussion The relative merits of owning or leasing the capital assets of an organisation will be discussed by a panel arranged by the Canterbury division of the New Zealand Institute of Management at “Heatherlea" next Wednesday evening. This subject has been included in the division’s programme because of the increasing use of leasing in business, not just for land and buildings but motor-vehicles, machinery and all kinds of industrial equipment, and even office furniture and floor coverings.

One of the speakers at the seminar will be the District Commissioner of Taxes (Mr T. M. Hunt), who will discuss the taxation aspects of leasing. The leader of the seminar will be Mr R. G. Compton, a public accountant, and the other speakers will be Mr W. D. J. Cotton, an assistant lecturer in accountancy at the University of Canterbury, and Mr J. M. Wood, a company manager. Group discussions will also be held as part of the seminar.
