Basketball Trials
The following players have been chosen to attend representative trials for the Canterbury senior representative basketball team: Forwards: C. McMaster and L. King (West A), J. Martin and C. O'Connell (Sacred Heart), J. Kimber and S. Norman (Technical), S. Dunne (West B). Centres: H. Hutton and M. Hansen (West A), B. Aitcheson and N. Baker (St. Nicholas), S. Langrope (Teachers’ College), M. Dyhberg (Sacred Heart). Defence: K. Price (West A), P. Fletcher (West B), S. Jones (St. Nicholas), J. Mcßeth (Technical), C. Brown (Technical), C. Holland (New Brighton).
Commonwealth Night.—The Great Chief (Mr V. McKeague) welcomed guests to the Christchurch Savage Club’s Commonwealth night. Orchestral items, vocal and instrumental solos, and a humorous sketch were presented by members of the club.
