HORORATA BEATEN
First Time Since 1962 Hororata suffered its first defeat s*ince 1962 when it was beaten 6-3 by Sheffield in the Malvern Sub-associations senior Rugby competition on Saturday. In the other match. Darfield decisively beat Black Diamonds, 19-0. Competition points are:—Hororata 8, Sheffield 8, Darfield 4, Black Diamonds 0. Hororata v. Sheffield For most of the match it was a hard forward struggle with Sheffield dominating the second spell. Sheffield’s points came from a try by W. Judd and penalty by E. Buxton. L. Clucas, who played very well at fullback for Hororata, dropped a field goal. Darfield v. Black Diamonds After an even first half, the Darfield backs took charge and scored some good tries. G. Nimmo and O. Stuart were the best of the Black Diamonds team. No player stood out for Darfield, although the return of G. Ussher and G. Clark strengthened the side. Darfield scored five tries, four of them by the backs. For Darfield M. Redfern (2), L. Mintrom (2) and A. King were the try scorers and D. Shaw kicked two conversions. Referee: Mr J. Holliday. Under 20.—Sheffield 41, Kirwee 3; Darfield 18, Black Diamonds 0.
