TROTTING Marshella And Sheridan Sound Forbury Chances

Marshella, in the Tahuna Handicap, and Sheridan, in the Raceway Handicap, look to be two of the best prospects on the last night of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s winter meeting today. Neither horse should be worried if softish track conditions prevail, and they should be equally at home if the going is firm.

Although Marshella was beaten in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes, she is entitled to be ranked as the top trotter of her age. She has won three races and was most impressive when she beat Alvean in the Bayfield Handicap on Saturday.

At no stage of the race was she tested and she appeared to win with something in hand. Marshella has been penalised 24 yards for that win, but that should not be sufficient to stop her winning again.

Glenside and Towser will form a popular bracket for their Winton trainer, H. W. Cox. Glenside has shown splendid form in recent months and he could make a race of it with Marshella. Towser made up ground for third on the first night of the meeting. The extra distance in this race will suit him and he eould again be placed. Break Through is another expected to appreciate the longer distance. He made up a lot of ground for sixth on Saturday and will have to show very little improvement to win.

Del Reno, Whisky Galore and Field Chief are others expected to add interest to the finish. Sheridan, one of very fewhorses trained in the Dunedin

district, was a last-start winner at Gore. He could repeat that run with a win in the Raceway Handicap. Nowin his eleventh year, Sheridan has been lightly raced because of unsoundness. He has come through his recent racing in grand style and should extend his record.

Bob Again has not raced for several weeks and he has had a chance to freshen up. His form has at times been more than useful and he could be too good for most in this field.

Seay Boy paced a splendid race for third on Saturday and with better fortune he could finish closer up.

Emily. Loyal Light and Bar None are others entitled to consideration. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Southland Handicap and the Farewell Handicap. Garcon d’Or and Peerswick forming a likely combination. There will be a double for course patrons run on the Fairfield Handicap and the Pacific Handicap. Snowline and Password form a fancied pair for this double. There was further rain in Dunedin yesterday, but improvement is expected today. If there is no rain in the two hours before the meeting starts, the track could be in good order. Acceptances:—
