SO SIMPLE

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 3. “Intermediate school pupils have been able to understand the simplified tax forms we’re bringing out this year,” said the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Mr L. J. Rathgen) today. At a press conference, the first of its type in New Zealand, Mr Rathgen said his department’s

publicity-public relations drive had cost some £16,000 in the last year.

“But we’ve made that up through savings in overtime as a result, let alone savings in administration costs,” he said.

“With people much better informed on tax matters now, we’ve cut our correspondence by 50 per cent.”
