SHOW-CASE SMASHED

Watches Stolen In High St. Thieves made a daring smash-and-grab raid on a Christchurch jewellery business last night while the streets were still busy with late traffic and pedestrians. The raid was made between 9.50 p.m. and 10.15 p.m. A glass show-case containing a number of watches at the premises of Kennedy’s Diamond Rings, Ltd., 244 High street, was found smashed open by a constable on patrol. Late last night the police had been unable to get in touch with the owner, but it is believed a number of watches is missing. The premises were kept under observation by the police during the night. Inquiries are being made by the C. 1.8.
