TENDER FOR POOLS
Acceptance By Paparua The lowest of three tenders, that of the Moore Construe■tion Company, Ltd., for £14,899. has been accepted by the Paparua County Council for swimming, diving, and paddling pools fa the new Sockburn Park on the Main South road opposite the council's chambers. Work is expected to start almost immediately. the county chairman (Mr J. ■Roberts) said last evening. This is the main contract of a recreational development project estimated to cost between £26.000 and £27 000 The pools will be heated and will be in an excavated portion of the recreational area of five acres, and will be set in landscaped surroundings. Their location should provide substantial protection from all winds. Development will be financed from Sockburn County Town revenue, land subdivision funds, and a Golden Kiwi grant. Mr Roberts said it was expected that the work would be completed in time for the coming swimming season. Considerable advice and assistance in planning had been given by the Riccarton Swimming Club, which would continue to be closely associated With the project, said Mr Roberts.
