SHOPLIFTING GIRLS
Stores Consider Under-16 Ban (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BOURNEMOUTH (Hampshire), May 3. Shopkeepers in Bournemouth are so worried by gangs of schoolgirl shoplifters that they are thinkinj of banning girls under 16 from their premises unless they are accompanied by an adult. This was said at the Bournemouth Juvenile Court when 10 girls aged from 13 to 16 admitted shoplifting. Nine were conditionally discharged and a tenth, described by her headmistress as a menace to society, was remanded for medical reports. The Court was told that another 20 girls would appear shortly in nearby Poole accused of similar offences. Recently the Bournemouth Juvenile Court dealt with another gang of 10 schoolgirl shoplifters. They were said to have played truant and raided stores.
