Premier Award At Dog Show Won By Boxer

Three hundred and twentytwo dogs from Auckland to Bluff, competed in the Canterbury Kennel Club’s midyear show on Saturday. This was a record entry for a midyear show. The premier award for the best dog in show was won by a boxer, which was exhibited by J. H. Boyd and Mrs Boyd, of Wellington. The best toy dog was Mrs R. Parker’s Ch. Miracle Treasure, a Maltese. An Irish wolf hound pup, shown by A. A. Campbell, of Oxford, attracted special interest This is the largest breed of dog in the world, and the first of its kind to be exhibited in the South Island. Though still a puppy, it is sft high, and when fully grown it will measure sft 6in at shoulder level. These are hunting dogs, and this one will probably be used for deer hunting. Two other breeds made their first appearance in a Canterbury show. They were the Tibetan Shih-Tzu and the German miniature pinscher. Awards were made as follows: Special Awards Best dog in show: J.
