New Freighters Named

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 28. The names Ngahere and Ngapara have been chosen by the Union Steam Ship Company for their two new cargo vessels at present under construction at Dundee. The 5980-ton vessels will be employed in the trans-Tasman trade and will be registered at Auckland. They will be basically similar to the Ngatoro and the Ngakuta. The builders, the Caldeon Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, expect to deliver the Ngahere in November and the Ngapara in January. The vessels have wide hatches, hydraulically-operated covers, and electric cargo cranes. The Ngahere and Ngapara will be fitted with two 10-ton and four five-ton cranes instead of the six five-ton cranes in the Ngatoro and the Ngakutu.
