Convection Heat One Way To Save Money

A well-designed central heating plant burns coal for household heating at between 75 to 80 per cent efficiency.

An open fire is the most wasteful method of heating so that little of the heat content of the fuel is transmitted to the room.

Even a grate, which can control the rate of burning, will, if properly fitted and sealed, save fuel. The saving is mainly because of the ability to burn fuel at the rate required to provide comfort. There is little gain in the proportion of useful heat available to the room.
