UNIFORMS CHANGED

Papanui High

School

Details of the new uniform to be worn by girls at Papanui High School next year were given by the principal (Mr E. Fancy) to the school’s board of governors. The school colours of green and gold have been retained and the new articles have been chosen to tone in. The new blazer will be of “Papanui” green and will have a pocket badge in gold on a dark blue background. In the winter the girls will wear a pleated kilt-type skirt of Black Watch tartan. The summer uniform is a tunic of green and white hound’s tooth poplin worn over a shortsleeved white blouse.

A green crushable hat with a narrow gold band will replace the beret and panama for both summer and winter wear. The cardigan, overcoat, and scarf will not be altered. A long-sleeved roundnecked jumper in Papanui green will be an alternative to the cardigan in winter, or may be worn as a twin-set. Hat-bands, badges, and ties will not be worn.

Mr Fancy said it was expected the changes would have little effect on the overall cost of uniforms to parents.
